Assignment 4: Follow Through (Check!)
Ok, so I gave myself that assignment to follow through and write the essay already. I had a mental back log of things to write, and I have a tendency to never submit anything out of a simple fear of rejection.
Well, today, one of my favorite things ever happened. A topic I’d been ruminating on for a while came together and presented itself in the form of a very short essay. I wrote it down and submitted it without spending too much time on editing.
I know that not editing is not good, but today it was more important to just get the piece out there. So, there. It’s done. It’s out there. If it gets rejected, I’ll probably revise it and submit it somewhere else, or at least post it here. If it gets accepted, well of course, you will all know about it.
Maybe if it gets rejected, we can all go over it with a fine tooth comb to discuss why it didn’t work. That would be weirdly fun, right? And then we can all share our stories of rejection — literary and otherwise — which would be a good way to learn as well as to feel better.
Oh, but lets hope for good news, eh?

Thanks, hon. Cross your fingers for me. I would really love this piece to be accepted, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Lets think positive thoughts.
