Ok, so it’s not magic… or not *just* magic.

Was I not just blogging about this the other day? Well, I was writing about how we need a process and how we develop our process, but Nubby Twiglet has a great post today about documenting your process and sharing it.

Check out Nubby Twiglet’s take on design process and process books. OK, so design and writing are two different things, but her point applies to both.

She say, “Design isn’t magic. As with any other profession, design takes serious dedication and perseverance.”

Exactly. It’s not magic… although there is always some element of magic, in my humble.

What I love here is that a designer can turn the process itself into a creative work. Think of those “The making of … ” videos that come out with epic movies. Aren’t those at least as fun to watch as the movies themselves? Likewise, the hard cover, glossy-paged volumes that detail the making of the best video games ever — have you seen the one for the Half Life games? It’s incredible and can really give you a deeper appreciation for all the work that goes into creating a lasting game.

What I’m wondering now is: How can a writer share the writing process in a way that’s interesting and stimulating for readers and that will actually support future success?
